It’s Summertime here and what’s the best thing to keep the kids busy? A kid’s craft, of course!! Kids LOVE craft projects at any age and what better project for summer than a colorful wind chime? The best thing about this project is that you are free to adjust the size to your taste. Want a small one for the kitchen window? Just use a smaller twig. Want a larger one to hang outside in a tree? Go for it! Just imagine what you could do with a small branch! The kids will be the envy of the neighborhood!
Wind Chime Supplies Needed:
Step 1 – Paint Stick.
Now this part is where the kids can get as creative as they want. Paint the stick first, just giving it some extra detail. The kids can freehand or tape off, whichever works best. Once it’s dry, they can add some more details with a fine paint brush. Think about adding some glitter paint as a fun addition as well!
Step 2 – Add Hooks.
Now add the hooks. This is the part that an adult will have to help with. The hooks actually go into the driftwood pretty easily. Just mark the spots and start twisting them into place. For a younger child this might be hard to do, but you can always get it started for them and they can finish it.
Step 3 – Add Beads.
Now add the beads!! Just mix them up however you like. Once you’re were done adding the beads, tie a knot at the end using a smaller bead to help keep it in place.
Step 4 – Add Hanger.
Now hang it up! Add two more of the hooks at each end of the wind chime. Then use some jute to hang it up!
